Ellington Honors Residents For Decades Of Town Service

ELLINGTON, CT — The town this week recognized eight longtime elected and appointed officials for their service on local boards and commissions.

The annual recognition event was held before Monday’s Board of Selectmen meeting, according to the Town of Ellington.

Gordon Oliver, a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, was honored for 30 years of service.

Three officials were recognized for 20 years of service: Tom Adams of the Permanent Building Committee; Ron Stomberg, an alternate on the Zoning Board of Appeals; and Deputy Emergency Management Director John Streiber.

Those honored for 10 years of service were Joe Boucher of the Patriotic Committee; Donna Resutek of the Economic Development Commission; Derek Reed of the Ethics Commission; and Deanna Wambolt-Gulick of the Human Services Commission.

The town also sent notes of thanks to members who have reached five and 15 years of service.

Town boards and commissions rely on residents appointed or elected to help oversee services, advise local government and take part in decisions affecting the community.
