Somers Adds Veteran Police Officer

SOMERS, CT — The Somers Resident Trooper's Office has welcomed Officer Kevin Cook, a former Connecticut State Trooper and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, to its police staff.

The Somers Board of Selectmen unanimously voted in May to hire Cook as a part-time day-shift police officer, with a July 1 start date contingent on successful completion of Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council requirements, according to town meeting minutes.

Cook previously served Connecticut for 20 years as a state trooper in various assignments, the Resident Trooper's Office said in announcing his arrival.

He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 23 years, including active-duty and reserve service, and deployed twice to combat zones during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, according to the office.

"We know he will be an important asset to the Town of Somers," the office said in a social-media post.
