ELLINGTON, CT — A veteran state trooper has taken the role of Ellington's resident state police supervisor, while a former selectman is serving on the Board of Education, according to separate town and school district announcements.
Sgt. Timothy Merrill brings a law enforcement career that began in 1998, according to the town's announcement introducing its police supervisor.
Merrill started with the West Virginia State Police before working as a federal special agent and an Enfield police officer, the town said.
He has spent the past 16 years with Connecticut State Police. His assignments have included sergeant at Troops C and H, resident sergeant in Mansfield and lieutenant at Troop H, according to the announcement.
In Ellington, Merrill will work with town officials, residents, businesses and community organizations while strengthening coordination between state troopers and Ellington police officers, the town said.
