Area Reservoir Levels Way Up With Wet Weather

Connecticut Water officials are comparing year-to-date reservoir levels this week.

ELLINGTON, CT — So ... with all this rain ... what are the water levels in the reservoirs serving Hartford and Tolland counties looking like these days?

A lot better, Connecticut Water Co. officials said.

Connecticut Water officials this week offered comparative numbers for 2016 versus 2017.

In 2016, statewide reservoir levels were at 92.5 percent of capacity, according to Connecticut Water officials.

In 2017, the levels are at 98.8 of capacity, water company officials said.

Connecticut Water we issued a voluntary statewide conservation request on July 26, 2016 and, they said, "It seemed to just get drier and drier." The utility lifted the request for voluntary conservation in April 2017 when the precipitation started to pick-up again.

The is not to say residents should use water recklessly, utility official said.

'We continue to encourage customers to use water wisely, as it is a precious natural resource, even though water supplies are in good shape for this time of the season," a statement issued Tuesday read. "That said, there is no voluntary or mandatory water conservation requests in effect."
