Bates College, Lewiston ME

  • Maggie O'Shea of Somers, a junior at Bates College, has been named a 2018-19 Community Liaison for the Bates Outing Club. In this role, O'Shea, a environmental studies major and anthropology and mathematics minor, will lead community engagement efforts, developing activities, programs, and partnerships that encourage civic learning and action for the Bates Outing Club. O'Shea, the daughter of Drs. Michael and Donna O'Shea of Somers, is a 2016 graduate of Suffield Academy.

Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

  • A pair of students from Somers have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2018 semester at Clarkson University. They are Karen Agro, majoring in environmental engineering, and Spencer MacLeod, majoring in mechanical engineering.

Dean College, Franklin MA

  • Dean College is pleased to announce that Ethan Lessard of Somers has earned a place on the Dean's List for the fall 2018 semester.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Ten graphic design students at Eastern Connecticut State University recently concluded a major project with the Access Community Action Agency in Willimantic. As part of Professor Terry Lennox's capstone course "Eastern Design Group," the students created 13 posters that graphically represent the agency's 13 community programs. Among the student artists was Olivia DeForge of Ellington, who majors in Art.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

  • Three students from Ellington and two from Somers were named to the fall 2018 Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered. Local honorees are Melanie Bonneau of Somers, Class of 2019; Erin Breen of Ellington, Class of 2019; Allison Tarbox of Somers, Class of 2020; Olivia Gionet of Ellington, Class of 2021; and Savanna Macaluso of Ellington, Class of 2022.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Michael Grinaski of Ellington graduated from Western New England University with a Master of Science in Engineering Management on October 15, 2018.
