Asnuntuck Announces Agreements with Elm College
Officials from Asnuntuck Community College and Elms College signed agreements for a Bachelor of Science Degree Program in Social Work.
From Asnuntuck Community College: Officials from Asnuntuck Community College and Elms College met on January 12th to sign formal articulation agreements for the Elms College Bachelor of Science Degree Completion Program in Social Work. The agreements, signed by Asnuntuck Community College President James Lombella and Elms College President Mary Reap, IHM, Ph.D., included Liberal Arts at ACC and Social Work at Elms; Early Childhood Education at ACC and Social Work at Elms, Criminal Justice at ACC and Social Work at Elms; General Studies at ACC and Social Work at Elms and Human Services at ACC and Social Work at Elms.
“Social work is a growing, important field with expanding job opportunities in our region," said Elms College President Mary Reap, IHM, Ph.D. "We are pleased to partner with Asnuntuck Community College to set students on the path to bachelor’s degrees leading to rewarding careers, empowering them to change lives for the better in Western Massachusetts, Connecticut, and beyond.”
This program is designed for students who are working, and have already earned an associate’s degree. The inaugural cohort of students will begin the program in August of this year. Students can complete the program in just 20 months, by taking part in 10, 8-week sessions held each Saturday. The classes will run from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.-5 p.m. on the Saturdays.

President Lombella added, “This is a wonderful pathway for some of our students to continue their educational journey. We are honored to partner with Elms to create pathways for our students to continue on their educational journey after graduating from Asnuntuck.”
Elms College has applied to the CT Office of Higher Education for permission to offer the program onsite at Asnuntuck Community College. Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared to take the state social work licensing exam at the Licensed Social Work level. In completing this degree students will gain advanced standing for many social work graduate programs.
