Authorities Investigating Asbestos Dumping Off Ellington's Green Road

A powder blue pickup that was observed leaving the scene, police said.

ELLINGTON, CT - Law enforcement and environmental officials are investigating who may have dumped a bunch of hazardous materials off Green Road and if a distinctive older pickup truck observed leaving the area is connected to the incident.

State police said the resident trooper's office was notified of an illegal dumping incident at 10:24 a.m. Sunday.

When they arrived at the area off Green Road, troopers determined the materials contained asbestos. A crew from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the abatement specialist Environmental Services Inc. were called to the scene and an intensive cleanup effort commenced, state police said.

State police said anyone who may have witnessed the dumping can contact the Troop C barracks at 860-896-3200.
