BREAKING: Portion of Route 83 to be Closed Most of Friday
A crash which knocked down two poles will force closure of a segment of Route 83 until at least mid-afternoon, police say.
One of the busiest stretches of roadway in the area will be closed most of Friday due to a pair of downed utility poles, according to police.
The portion of Route 83 between Windermere Avenue and Windsorville Road in Vernon, just over the Ellington line, has been shut down following a crash which knocked down the two poles. The section is expected to be closed until at least 3 p.m., police said.
The driver of the vehicle which knocked down the poles fled the scene, and anyone with information is asked to call Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
