Campus Achievements - Ellington, Somers College Students

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Assumption College, Worcester MA

• The Assumption Department of Athletics has announced that 40 student-athletes have earned a spot on the 2019 Assumption College Men's Lacrosse team. Team members from Somers are Spencer Marocchini, Class of 2020, and Trevor Wilcox, Class of 2020.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• The women's lacrosse team at Eastern Connecticut State University recently began its spring 2019 season. The team is rebuilding after last year's graduation losses, giving new and returning players opportunities to expand their roles on the team. Local student athletes on the roster are: Meagan Bartley of Somers, who majors in Health Sciences and plays midfield and defense. Her jersey number is 1; Alyssa Powers of Ellington, who majors in Health Sciences and plays attack. Her jersey number is 15; Madison Renaud of Somers, who majors in Communication and plays attack. Her jersey number is 30; and Stephanie Sullivan of Somers, who majors in Psychology and plays defense. Her jersey number is 20.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

• During the week of March 4th, Emma Johnson of Ellington was one of 14 Emmanuel students who participated in the College's annual Alternative Spring Break (ASB) trip to Phoenix, Arizona. ASB is a week-long, faith-based service trip held during the College's traditional spring break that bridges volunteer work with education and reflection on larger social issues. For the 17th-consecutive year, the Phoenix group served at Andre House, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Priests and Brothers of Holy Cross from the University of Notre Dame that serves the poor and homeless, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP), a Catholic lay organization.

Saint Michael's College, Colchester VT

• Junior Danielle Markowski of Ellington returns to the Saint Michael's softball team. The first baseman led the team last season with four home runs and 19 RBI.
