Canton Lead too Much for Somers

The Somers High School girls basketball team got down early and couldn't overcome the deficit.

Canton jumped out to a huge first quarter lead and the girls basketball team couldn't overcome it as it fell 58-39 on Friday night in North Central Connecticut Conference action.

Three-time All-NCCC player senior  Sarah Benedetti hit three three-pointers in the first quarter, while senior Megan Roux, two-time NCCC player, scored nine first quarter points as Canton jumped to a 28-4 lead.

Despite the first quarter onslaught, the Spartans continued to play hard and cut the lead to 41-27 mid-way through the third, but the huge early lead would prove too much to overcome.
