Update: Car Collides With Ambulance in Somers; East Windsor Resident Dies in the Crash
A portion of Route 190 is closed while police investigate.

Update 11 p.m.
State police say the driver, identified as Leonard W. King, 60, of the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, died in the accident involving the ambulance in Somers. Originally, State Police identified the deceased as from Enfield, but that information was not correct.

Police in Somers are reporting that an ambulance and a car collided around 2:40 p.m. near 507 Main Street, or Route 190, just west of Route 83, WTNH News 8 reports.
One person has died, News 8 reports. NBC Connecticut reports the deceased is from Enfield. State police have not yet released the deceased’s name.

As a result of the accident a section of Route 190 is closed in Somers and police are urging motorists to avoid the area.
Details are scarce right now, but the ambulance was not responding to an emergency at the time of the accident, and no patients were on board. WFSB 3 reports that no one in the ambulance was injured.
State Police say the Enfield resident was driving on Main Street when he crashed into the ambulance.
