Two Killed In Somers Crash

Two people are dead after a car crashed into a tree.

SOMERS, CT — Police have identified two people killed in a Friday afternoon Somers crash.

Operator Ruth Chake, 72, of Springfield and Bette Bardsley, 69, of East Longmeadow were killed after the car went off the road and crashed head-on into a tree, state police said.

The crash took place at 2:14 p.m. along the 100 block of Turnpike Road, according to state police.
