Car Takes Out Guardrail in Somers

SOMERS, CT — State police are investigating what caused a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to take out several guardrail posts on Route 83 in Somers on Friday.

The crash took place at 7:21 p.m. on Friday, state police said in a report.

The Jeep was traveling southbound on Route 83 and suddenly veered onto the right shoulder, according to a report.

It then struck several wooded guardrail posts, state police said.

The Jeep is registered in New York and the driver left the scene, state police said. The crash remains under investigation, state police said.
