Cause of Ellington House Fire Still Under Investigation
Firefighters had difficulty containing a house fire Thursday due to a huge amount of contents inside the home, a fire official said.

ELLINGTON, CT — Fire officials are still investigating the cause of a blaze on Lanz Lane Thursday afternoon which destroyed a house. Fire Chief Jack Rich said efforts to contain the fire were hampered by the volume of contents piled up inside the structure.
The fire was reported at 2:44 p.m., and was mainly contained within an hour. However, accessibility was limited due to the amount of items in the house, which in some cases were blocking doorways, causing it to take several hours to fully extinguish all the flames, Rich said.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire, which is believed to have started in an attic. The house has since been demolished, Rich said.
