College Achievements By Students From Ellington and Somers

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Assumption College, Worcester MA

• The Assumption Department of Athletics has announced that two student-athletes from Somers were named to the 2020 men's lacrosse team. They are Spencer Marocchini and Trevor Wilcox, both from the Class of 2020. Though the spring season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the team competed in the first four games of the Greyhounds' spring season.

Curry College, Milton MA

• Five local students were named to the fall 2019 Dean's List at Curry College. They are Jessica Allard of Somers, an Elementary Education major and member of the Class of 2021; Katie Bartlett of Ellington, a Nursing major and member of the Class of 2022; Hannah Mozzer of Ellington, a Nursing major and member of the Class of 2022; Zachary Mozzer of Ellington, a Management major and member of the Class of 2021; and Mackenzie Wyllie of Somers, a Nursing major and member of the Class of 2021. To earn a place on the list, full-time undergraduate students - those who carry 12 or more graded credits per semester - must earn a 3.3 grade-point-average (GPA) or higher.

Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY

• A pair of local residents made the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2019 fall semester: Janine Bushey of Somers, who is in the graphic design program, and Alex Slotter of Ellington, who is in the imaging science program. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

• Douglas Hostetler and Brett Boyd, both of Somers, and Madison Fox of Ellington have been named to the fall 2019 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Stonehill College, Easton MA

• Allison Tarbox, Class of 2020, of Somers, and Olivia Gionet, Class of 2021, of Ellington, were named to the fall 2019 Dean's List at Stonehill College. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.
