College Milestones By Students From Ellington, Somers: Spring 2023

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire. More great feats will be noted in the coming weeks.

Assumption University, Worcester MA

• Mallory Bartlett, of Ellington, Class of 2026, has been named to the University's Dean's List for the spring 2023 semester. Students named to the Dean's List must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 for a five-class, 15-credit semester to be included on the prestigious list, which is announced at the completion of the fall and spring semesters.

Bob Jones University, Greenville SC

• Paul Landry of Somers, a political science major at Bob Jones University, recently earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy in German after successfully completing the AVANT 4S Assessment. To qualify for the Global Seal, students complete an approved proficiency exam that evaluates their ability to read, write, listen and speak a specific language. They must achieve a minimum intermediate-mid rating in all four skills.

Clark University, Worcester MA

• Alexander Jonathan Bruno of Ellington received a degree during the University's 119th Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 21. Bruno graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in interactive media.

Goodwin University, East Hartford CT

• Goodwin University's President's List for the spring 2023 session includes 270 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Among them are Alexandra Atkinson of Somers and Sashin Hanson of Ellington.
• Goodwin University announces 652 students achieved Dean's List status for the spring 2023 session, including Alexandra Atkinson of Somers, and Emma Audet, Olivia Catlett, Sashin Hanson and Alycia Williams, all of Ellington.

Lasell University, Newton MA

• Gianna Chiarenza, a Lasell University student from Ellington, was named to the dean's list for academic performance in the spring 2023 semester. The spring 2023 dean's list includes students who have completed at least 12 credits as a full-time student in that semester and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Manchester Community College, Manchester CT

• Kaylee Bahler, Timothy Brier, Kasey Bullard, Brendan Burke, Olivia Catlett, Karissa Cohen, Brian Fealy, Halei Frey, Jonathan Gentile, Rebecca Griffin, Connor Hunihan, Elizabeth Lamont, Danielle Maffessoli, Andrew Oliwa, Zoltan Saxon, Rinor Selimaj, Drew Snowdon, Vallarie Vaine and Lydia Welti, all of Ellington, and Jessica Curtis, Ryan Decker, Sara Elhage, Krystian Kruzel, Joseph Olesky, Grace Seddon and Vanessa Whightsel, all of somers, graduated May 25 from Manchester Community College.

Pace University, Pleasantville NY

• Aron Mondschein of Ellington graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Dyson College of Arts and Sciences in media, communications and visual arts.

Salve Regina University, Newport RI

• Chelsey Estrada of Ellington was awarded a certificate degree in healthcare administration and management during Salve Regina University's 73rd commencement.

Springfield College, Springfield MA

• Springfield College recognizes a number of local students for being named to the Dean's List for academic excellence for the 2023 spring semester. From Ellington: Beatrice Anyah, Kate Bonanno, Natalie Chamberlin and Braedan Shea. From Somers: Jayden Kement, Aiden Miller, Dimitri Sanchez and James Uyar. The criteria for selection to the Dean's List are as follows: The student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded coursework for the term, exclusive of "P" grades. The student must not have any incompletes or missing grades in the designated term. The student must have a minimum semester grade average of 3.500 for the term.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• On Saturday, May 13, Trevor Parks, who majored in mechanical engineering, was bestowed a bachelor's degree at WPI's 154th Commencement. Nearly 1,100 undergraduate degrees were awarded during the ceremony.
