Bates College, Lewiston ME
- Maggie O'Shea of Somers participated in the fall 2018 Bates College Junior Semester Abroad program. O'Shea, who is majoring in environmental studies and minoring in anthropology and mathematics at Bates, studied in Cambodia through the School for Field Studies, Siem Reap. She is the daughter of Drs. Michael and Donna O'Shea of Somers, and a 2016 graduate of Suffield Academy.

- Eighteen Eastern Connecticut State University students are participating in percussion ensembles this spring 2019 semester. The Percussion Ensemble, Percussion Group and World Percussion Ensemble each offer an opportunity for instrumentalists to perform exclusively on percussion instruments in a chamber setting. Among the student musicians is Ryan Michaud of Ellington, who majors in Music. Michaud is in the World Percussion Ensemble. He also plays the Buk in the Samul Ensemble, an instrumental ensemble comprised of Korean percussion instruments.
