For over 20 years starting in 1996, the couple provided food, toiletries and paper goods for 25-30 families each week. The success of the Food Pantry came from their ability to include the community in their efforts. Churches, schools and scouting organizations held food drives to keep the pantry stocked. They were also able to secure volunteers to help sort, stack and distribute food.

The Greenes attended the pancake breakfast at Crystal Lake School each December, where they received penny donations for the Food Pantry. Specialty Printing hosted several golf tournaments that raised money for the Food Pantry. In turn, over the years, the Greenes donated that money to the Community United Methodist Church, where the Food Pantry is located, to purchase a new generator, new freezers and shelving.
