Crash Closes Part of Route 83 in Ellington

ELLINGTON, CT — One vehicle wound up hood-first into a guardrail as two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route 83 and Maple Street just after 9 p.m. on Friday night.

The vehicle against the guardrail appeared to be a Jeep and the other, a sedan, came to a stop in the southbound lane.

About five fire vehicles and three state police cruisers were at the scene and fire police were setting up cones to close off a section of Route 83,

There was no word on injuries.

The scene was clear by 10:10 p.m.
