Delirious Driver Found in Busy Ellington Intersection: State Cops

A driver was found stopped at a green light, state police said.

ELLINGTON, CT — A 56-year-old driver was taken into custody after she was found in the middle of a busy intersection delirious at dinnertime on Thursday, state police said.

At 7:05 p.m., state police began receiving 911 calls about a vehicle stopped at a green light at the intersection of Route 83 and Middle Butcher Road, a busy section of road at the last signal before the Vernon line.

Troopers located the car and, according to a report, its driver, Mary Gallup of Vernon, was "semi-conscious," according to a report.

She was taken to Rockville General Hospital, cared for, and eventually charged with drunken driving and improper parking, a report indicates.
