Demolition of Old Somers Bank Building Underway
The land is being cleared for construction of a new Henny Penny convenience store and gas station.

SOMERS, CT — Bulldozers and backhoes have brought a long-vacant former bank branch to the ground, as construction work has begun on a new Henny Penny convenience store and gas station in Somers Center.
The former Bank of America building at 595 Main Street, at the northeast corner of Routes 190 and 83, closed in June 2014. In 2016, the Somers Zoning Commission unanimously approved a proposal to construct a Henny Penny on the site.
A site plan was approved in January of this year, allowing for four covered gas pumps and a 4,000 square foot convenience store. A traffic plan calls for left turns heading east on 190, but no right turns from 190 westbound. Right and left turns will be permitted from Route 83.
