Drive-In Graduation Culminates Somers Students' Scholastic Days
A total of 103 Spartans graduated in the rain Thursday at the Mansfield Drive-In Theatre. Complete list of 103 graduates is included.
SOMERS/MANSFIELD, CT — It was a graduation ceremony unlike any other in Somers history Thursday, as government restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic prompted an unprecedented move of the high school commencement exercises to the Mansfield Drive-In Theatre.
A total of 103 seniors received diplomas at the outdoor event, which proceeded despite a steady rain. One by one, the graduates left their vehicles and walked across a stage to culminate their high school careers.
Several school officials made remarks during the ceremony, then speeches were delivered by salutatorian Christian Chlebowski, who is also class president, and valedictorian Victoria Reid.
