DUI Charge Filed in Somers Crash
A Somers man has been charged in connection with Wednesday morning's accident.
A Somers man has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs in connection with an accident that destroyed a utility pole and blocked a portion of Route 83 for more than four hours Wednesday.
Samuel Collin, 24, of 93 Field Road, was also cited for failure to drive in the proper lane. He was released on $1,000 bond, state police said.
The 8:37 a.m. crash happened when a northbound blue Ford Mustang operated by Collin left the roadway just north of Manse Hill Road, struck and snapped the pole and wound up on its roof.

Collin was not injured, but failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 26.
