The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:
We want to keep our schools focused on our children’s education that will help them in the future. Children learn by asking questions and we encourage them to be innovative. “The whole idea of a public education was to train young people about how our system of government works and so they could be good citizens and be part of it.” Sandra Day O’Connor.
Critical differences between me and my opponents:
We should all want to work together with focus that the classroom learning is a priority. We have some amazing teachers that started some new cool things and new ways of learning this past year. Let's keep the ones that worked well for the kids and keep doing what produced good results.
Accomplishments:
My husband and I are raising 5 children in town and in the Ellington Public Schools. During this time, I have gotten to know many of the kind teachers, janitors and secretaries that we employ in Ellington. I have worked with many of them on various PTO or athletic fundraising events. I am willing to listen to the teachers and staff as well as the students on their ideas.
What else would you like voters to know about you?
I have appreciated the Seeds of Civility that the Ellington Public School uses as a guideline. It can be a helpful for each of our interactions in community we live in. 1. Listen, Observe, and & Reflect 2. Assume Good intentions 3. Allow for Emotional reactions 4. Speak One’s Truth 5. Face to Face 6. Find Similarities and value Differences 7. Debate the issue and respect the person
