For anyone interested in training to become an Election Moderator, an βinitial/newbieβ class is being held on Thursday, Oct. 15 in the Somers Town Hall auditorium between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
There is no charge to attend this course for Somers residents [bring a lunch, coffee provided]. The class will be taught by a state-certified instructor. There is a test at the end of the training to become certified for a 2-year period.
The Moderator serves as the chief public official at each polling place. In effect, the Moderator represents all the citizens in their municipality and is therefore responsible for ensuring that all election laws and procedures are followed. In addition, the Moderator must do whatever is in his/her power to allow for a smooth voting process for all voters.
