Ellington 2019 Elections: Candidates, Polling Places, Hours
Here's what you need to know concerning the 2019 Ellington local elections, including the candidates, polling places and voting hours.

ELLINGTON, CT — Voters began heading to the polls at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote in Ellington's municipal election. Positions of first selectman, Board of Selectmen, Board of Education, Board of Finance, Planning & Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Library Board of Trustees are all up for grabs.
Polls are open until 8 p.m. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes.

Incumbent First Selectman Lori Spielman, a Republican, is being challenged by Democrat Peggy Busse.
Board of Selectmen

Six current members of the Board of Selectmen are seeking to retain their seats: Republicans John Turner, James Prichard, Ronald Stomberg and David Stavens, and Democrats Sarah Cook and Melinda Ferry. Democrat Jaime Foster, currently a member of the school board, is challenging for a Board of Selectmen seat.
Board of Education
Candidates for spots on the Board of Education are incumbent Republicans Michael Young and Kerry Socha and Democrat Elizabeth Nord. Challengers are Democrats Miriam Underwood, Aaron Foster and Jennifer Mullin.

Polling places in Ellington are:
- District 1: Ellington High School, 37 Maple Street
- District 2: Crystal Lake School, 59 South Road
Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters, standing in line before 8 p.m. to register won't guarantee the ability to vote.
