Ellington Farmers' Helps Ensure Food Security For Seniors and Women
The Ellington Farmers Market doubles the purchasing power by matching FMNP vouchers for low income seniors and women receiving WIC benefits.

The Ellington Farmers' Market is now matching Farmers' Market Nutrition Program vouchers that are distributed to low-income seniors and women receiving WIC benefits. The market takes place Saturday through October from 9am-noon in Arbor Park, Main St. Ellington.
Vouchers which are distributed through the CT Department of Agriculture have been distributed to local town agencies. Seniors should contact their local town senior center or human services to determine if they are eligible to receive the coupons and where the distribution takes place. Women receiving WIC benefits should contact their local WIC office to obtain the vouchers.
Recipients of either vouchers should bring their booklets to the market booth at the Ellington Farmers' Market where additional matching Ellington Farmers Market vouchers will be distributed. The vouchers from the Department of Agriculture can be used to purchase fruits, vegetables and eggs. Seniors may also purchase honey. Honey can not be purchased with the WIC vouchers. The matching vouchers from the Ellington Farmers Market can be used to purchase ANY food at the Ellington Market.
