Ellington Farmers Market Celebrates Independence Day-Patriotic Fun!
Free crafts, games, activities, a patriotic parade, a bluegrass band, local food, and fun in the quaint country setting of Market Park.
The Ellington Farmers Market is gearing up for a festive Independence Day celebration at Market Park, 72 Maple St, on Saturday, June 29th, from 9 AM to noon. The event promises old-fashioned family fun, with Ellington Youth Services helping kids craft hats, fans, and a banner for the Patriotic Parade, which kicks off at 10:30 AM.
Attendees can enjoy a variety of lawn games and the lively tunes of Dogtown, a country bluegrass band. All activities are free of charge.
The market will be brimming with fresh produce, including the season’s first sweet corn and the last of the local strawberries. Shoppers can also find local meats perfect for grilling and an assortment of baked goods, seafood, dairy products, specialty foods and artisan wares.
The market matches SNAP benefits up to $40 per week per EBT card and Farmers Market Nutrition Program Vouchers for seniors and WIC recipients at face value to help ensure food security for low-income seniors and families. The Kids Power of Produce Club encourages healthy eating habits by engaging children in produce-based activities, offering fresh produce samples, and giving them a $3 token to purchase their own fresh produce.
The Ellington Farmers Market, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, is dedicated to building a healthy community through its vibrant, local offerings.
