Ellington Farmers’ Market Increases Matching SNAP Benefits.

Persons receiving SNAP benefits can double their purchasing power at the Ellington Farmers' Market thanks to Connecticut Fresh Match program

The Ellington Farmers’ Market has increased its matching SNAP benefits to $25 per week per EBT card. Customers simply present their EBT cards at the market booth where vouchers for food purchases will be given to shop the market. If twenty-five dollars is deducted from the EBT card the customer will receive $50 in vouchers, doubling their purchasing power. Smaller amounts may also be doubled. The market is in partnership with End Hunger Connecticut, which is providing additional funding for the program through their Connecticut Fresh Match program.

The matching SNAP program provides food security for low-income persons and families and allows them to have increased access to local, fresh, healthy food. The increased purchasing power also helps to support local Connecticut small farms and food producers.

The market takes place Saturdays, rain or shine, from 9 am-noon in Arbor Park, Main St. Ellington. Additional information can be found on the market website. www.ellingtonfarmersmarket.org. Ellington Farmers’ Market is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build a healthy community
