Ellington Farmers' Market Opens Outdoor Season With Barnyard Babies

The entire family can enjoy a variety of barnyard animals while shopping 40 vendors for farm and food products plus artisan wares.

Ellington Farmers’ Market opens its summer season in Arbor Park on Saturday, May 6th from 9-12 and continues through October rain or shine. Each week features a different theme beginning with Barnyard Babies which features a variety of live farm animals for all to enjoy. The market features 40 full-time vendors and weekly guest vendors bringing a wide variety of farm and food products including meats, seafood, dairy, eggs, produce, plants, flowers, bath and body products and artisan wares. Baked goods including vegan and gluten-free, specialty foods, ready-to-eat items and prepared foods are also available.

The market has several programs to help ensure food security for low-income families, seniors, and women receiving WIC benefits. The market matches SNAP up to $25 per week per EBT card. Simply bring your EBT card to the market booth where you will be given tokens to shop. The market will also be matching the Farmers Market Senior and WIC Nutrition Program vouchers distributed by the CT. Department of Agriculture beginning in early July.

The Kids Power of Produce Club, which begins June 10th, empowers children to make healthy food choices. Children can participate in a free weekly activity and receive a two-dollar token to purchase fresh produce. These programs are made possible through the generous donations of local businesses and individuals.
