Ellington Farmers' Market Receives State Citation of Excellence

The top rural/suburban farmers market in distributing matching SNAP and Senior and WIC FMNP vouchers to purchase healthy foods.

The Ellington Farmers' Market received an official citation from the Connecticut General assembly for their matching SNAP and Senior and WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program Vouchers in 2020.

Be it hereby known to all that: The Connecticut General Assembly hereby offers its sincerest congratulations to: The Ellington Farmers' Market.
In recognition of being the highest rural/suburban farmers' market SNAP/WIC matcher, and the third highest redeemer of incentive dollars out of all the individual farmers' markets in Connecticut during the 2020 season. Thank you for your excellence and commitment to community and serving those in need.

Over $17,000 was distributed in the form of coupons for low income families to obtain healthy foods at the market in 2020. The market's matching programs are continuing throughout the 2021 season. Low income seniors should contact their town human services and women receiving WIC benefits should contact their local WIC office to obtain the FMNP coupons. SNAP benefits are matched up to $20 per week. EBT cards and coupons should be brought to the market booth were customers will receive additional coupons for shopping the market. The market takes place Saturday mornings 9-12 in Arbor Park rain or shine through October 30th. Additional market information can be found on the market website.
