Ellington Firefighters Bring Back Beloved Town Carnival

The three-day event at Robert Tedford Memorial Park will run Sept. 10–12 and mark the department's 98th year.

ELLINGTON, CT — After a year off, a longtime town tradition is making its return.

The Ellington Volunteer Fire Department has announced its annual carnival will be held Sept. 10–12, 2026, at Robert Tedford Memorial Park, marking the department’s 98th year.

The event was canceled last year after organizers were unable to secure a ride vendor. Fire officials said they are partnering this year with Fanelli Amusements to bring back a full midway experience.

Fire Chief Robert Smith said in a release that the department is “thrilled” to restore the tradition after the unexpected pause and is looking forward to seeing families return to support the volunteer department.

Organizers said the three-day carnival will include rides for children, teens and adults, carnival games and prizes, food vendors, the department’s annual vehicle raffle and the Saturday Firefighters’ Parade.
