Ellington Gets Votes in Statewide Baseball Poll

The Knights earned substantial support from voters in the latest weekly balloting.

ELLINGTON, CT — Four-time defending Class LL champion Amity Regional continued its dominance of high school baseball by receiving all 11 first-place votes in the latest weekly poll of Connecticut media members.

The Spartans have opened the 2017 campaign with seven straight victories.

Ellington (6-0) did not make the top 10, but received considerable support from voters.

Here are the top 10, with records through April 23:

  1. Amity Regional (7-0)
  2. New Canaan (8-0)
  3. New Milford (8-0)
  4. Ridgefield (8-1)
  5. East Lyme (7-1)
  6. Morgan (10-0)
  7. Tolland (6-0)
  8. Wethersfield (5-0)
  9. Fairfield Prep (7-2)
  10. Waterford (8-1)

Also receiving votes: Oxford (9-0), Southington (4-2), Newington (4-1), East Hartford (6-1), Holy Cross (8-0), South Windsor (4-1), Wilton (4-2), Westhill (6-2), Guilford (6-2), North Haven (7-2), Norwalk (6-3), Ellington (6-0), New Britain (6-2), West Haven (5-2), Masuk (5-3), Weston (6-3), Haddam-Killingworth (9-2), East Catholic (5-2), Lyman Hall (5-2).
