From Ellington To Greater Hartford, Community Drive Stocks Clothes Closet
Organizers say the effort shows how local partnerships can extend help well beyond town lines.
ELLINGTON, CT — What started as a local call for donations has turned into nearly 1,000 pieces of clothing now helping people across Greater Hartford, thanks to a coordinated effort led by Ellington officials and law enforcement partners.
According to Community Partners in Action, the donations were gathered through a community clothing drive led by the Town of Ellington, the Ellington Police Department, Ellington Resident State Troopers and the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office.

The clothing was delivered to the Hartford Community Clothes Closet, which serves residents from nearly 30 towns across Greater Hartford who are facing hardship.

Organizers credited Investigator Jose Martinez of the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office and Hartford Community Court Community Service Program Manager Deb Barrows with helping coordinate the effort.
Community Partners in Action said the drive highlights what can happen when local leaders, law enforcement, businesses and residents work together to support people beyond their own town lines.
