Ellington Historical Society Kicks Off Annual Appeal

Funds will cover critical maintenance and improvements, ensuring Ellington's rich heritage is preserved for years to come.

The Ellington Historical Society is celebrating a successful year at the Nellie McKnight Museum, with the community’s strong support making all the difference. This year’s events saw robust attendance, with exhibits that continued to spark interest and educate residents and visitors alike.
To ensure the museum can continue to thrive, the Historical Society has launched its annual appeal to raise $8,000. These funds will cover critical maintenance and improvements, helping the museum remain a safe and welcoming space for all. Planned projects include:

  • Repairing and painting all interior windowsills to maintain the house's historical integrity.
  • Touching up the exterior paint to keep the museum visually appealing and in excellent condition for guests.
  • Improving the museum lawn, which has been damaged by moles, creating unsafe walking conditions.

The Historical Society emphasizes that every contribution, large or small, is valuable. Community donations are crucial in preserving a vital piece of Ellington’s history, allowing the museum to continue sharing the town’s heritage for future generations.
