Ellington Man Gets Another Prescription to Court

An Ellington man already out on $20,000 bond for trying to purchase medication illegally has been charged again for attempting to pass a false prescription, Vernon police said. 

Janusz Surowka, 35, of 7 Gabriel Dr., Ellington, was taken into custody by Vernon police on Friday and charged with trying to obtain drugs by fraud, possessing a false prescription and second-degree forgery, according to an incident report. 


Vernon police were notified of the false prescription by staff members of the Stop & Shop pharmacy on Windsorville Road, a report indicates. 

He is due in court on Oct 2, according to court records. 

The weekend arrest was his second for drug forgery in three months. 
In June, after a detailed investigation, the East Central Narcotics Task Force charged him with criminal attempt/possession of a controlled substance by fraud, possessing a forged prescription and second-degree forgery, according to a task force news release. 

Surowka had allegedly been obtaining Fentanyl patches (a narcotic pain reliever) via fraudulent prescriptions at pharmacies in Vernon, according to a news release. Task force members were able establish enough probable cause to obtain an arrest warrant for Surowka, and for a warrant to search Surowka’s residence in Ellington, according to a news release.
