Ellington Obituary: David Flannery, 55

Condolences to his family and friends.

David Flannery, 55, of Ellington, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016.

Dave was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine and moved to Connecticut in the early 70’s. He was a proud graduate of Rockville High School, attending night courses in order to earn his diploma later in life. Dave worked in the construction industry his entire life, owning DMK Construction for more than a decade. Dave’s passion was racing, spending many hours racing with his sons from go-karts to late model.

A beloved father, he is survived by his sons, Dan Flannery of Coventry and Mike Flannery of Ellington; as well as his brother, Donald Flannery and his wife Lori; and sister, Tamara Jones and his brother-in-law Nate - all of Maine; his in-laws Jack and Sandy Foster of South Carolina; and dog Bubba, his faithful companion. He was predeceased by his mother Christine Merrithew, and grandparents Earl and Eda Flannery; Joseph and Mary Shaw.

Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Friday, April 1, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., Somers. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dave’s name to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06076-3045.
