
Dorothy “Dot” (Barnard) MacIntosh, 87, of Ellington, beloved wife of the late Neil MacIntosh, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Hartford Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Dot was able to say her goodbyes to all of her family and friends at her hospital party celebration a couple of days before her passing.
She was born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Leroy and Marion (Bailey) Barnard, and she grew up and lived in East Hartford before moving to Ellington over 58 years ago. She was a member of the Ellington Congregational Church. Prior to her retirement in 1994, Dot was the town clerk for the Town of Ellington for over 22 years. She loved to cook Sunday dinners, including dessert, for the state police. Dot was a NASCAR fan and she enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting and tole painting. She was an avid sudoku player. She loved Dancing With the Stars and looked forward to watching it on Monday nights. Dot was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, John Barnard of Ellington, Neil MacIntosh and his wife Luann of Somers, Diane Beebe and her husband Jeffrey of Vernon, and Richard MacIntosh of Ellington; eight grandchildren, Jolene, John, Jessica, Eric, Seth, Jim, Jay and Trevor; seven great grandchildren; four sisters, Marion Ameil of East Hartford, Gloria Barnard of East Hartford, Sandy Quinn of Maricopa, AZ and Debbie Ahern of East Hartford; a brother, Billy Barnard of Vernon; two sisters-in-law, Arlene Barnard of East Hartford and Christian Finance of Ellington, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Leroy, James and Ralph Barnard; two sisters, Edna Longo and Sharon Barnard, and two grand puppies, Bailey and Nellie.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Ellington Center Cemetery, 95 Maple Street, Ellington.
