
George E. Caldwell, 91, of Ellington, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Rockville General Hospital.
He was born in Groton, son of the late George E. and Elizabeth (Payne) Caldwell. George served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps holding the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 882nd Air Engineering Squadron. He retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as an experimental test engineer, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 14 of Rockville.
George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy (Dugay) Caldwell; seven children, Gary and Brian Caldwell, Glenn Caldwell and his wife Joy, Greg Caldwell, Georgiana Hogarth and her husband Bill, Bonniejean Caldwell and her husband David Burns, and Gayelynn Miller and her husband Bill; grandchildren, Jared, Melissa, Desiree, Alan, Hannah, Shane, Ryan, and Kayla; great granddaughters, Elaina, Morgan, and Bailey; siblings, Arthur, Robert, Raymond, and James Caldwell, and Mary Pinney and Barbara Bossie; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Bruce and Barry Caldwell; and siblings, William Caldwell, Elizabeth Norris, and Daisy Caldwell.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 4-6 P.M. with a funeral service and Military Honors to take place at 6 P.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs. Burial in Staffordville Cemetery, Staffordville, will take place at a later date.
