
Roland G. “Rollie” Robinson, 73, of Ellington, beloved husband of over 52 years to Joan (Hummel) Robinson, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 19, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Born in Rockville, the son of the late Roland and Louise (Capen) Robinson, he grew up and has lived in Ellington all his life. He was a graduate of Ellington High School, Class of 1964. Prior to his retirement in 2006, Roland was employed by Spazzarini Construction Company in Enfield for several years, and was previously employed by the former McKnight, and Mitchell Construction Companies.
He loved hunting, fishing, and doing repairs on his home. He enjoyed stock car racing, and gathering and splitting firewood. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Lisa Glazier and her husband Barry of Irasburg, VT, Karin Giansanti and her husband Brent of Ellington, and Wendy LaPlante and her husband Thomas of Ellington; three grandchildren, Tracy and Ryan Oleksiw, and Emily LaPlante; a great grandson, Aiden Kirol; two brothers, Harold Robinson and his wife Helga of AL, and Ervin Robinson and his wife Carol of ME, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Arlene and Marie.
His family will receive friends for calling hours on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 10 to 12 noon followed by a funeral service beginning at 12 noon at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Avenue, Rockville. Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
