Ellington Obituary: Verona Schneider, 82

Condolences to her family and friends.

Verona Mae (Gerber) Schneider, 82, beloved wife of the late Emanuel "Sonny" Schneider of Vernon, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at home.

She was born in Ellington on July 19, 1933, the daughter of the late Walter and Leah (Bahler) Gerber. Verona turned her life to the Lord in her youth and was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Ellington. She was married to Sonny for 57 years until his death in 2015.

She leaves her six children, Sandra (Joseph) Koch, Heidi (John) Cerrigione both of Ellington, Leonard (Deborah) Schneider of Vernon, Nancy (Kenneth) Willis, Mary-Ann (Dale) Gerber both of Ellington and Trudi (Chris) Kozak of Vernon. She also leaves 17 grandchildren: Victoria (Robert) Mortensen; Levi and Jared Schneider, Kayla (Sean) Mitchell; Chris (Kristin), Mike, Crystal, Eric (Coreen), and Emily Willis; Lydia, Rebekah, Jacob, Hannah, and Samuel Gerber; Kevin, Steven and Ryan Kozak; nine great-grandchildren; one brother Edwin (Beverly) Gerber, and three sisters-in-law, Hannah Schneider, Alma (Joseph) Skipper, Marie (Bernard) Garrow, and numerous nieces and nephews. Awaiting her in heaven is her great-grandson Obadiah Willis.

Verona enjoyed entertaining and selflessly serving others. She loved her God, her church, and her family and it was evident in how she lived her life. She was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and sister; whose kind and loving example will be missed. Her family wishes to thank Silvia Tokarski for the years of care she provided for both Sonny and Verona.

Calling hours will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church, 34 Middle Butcher Road, Ellington on Friday, May 27, 2016 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church on Saturday, May 28th, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Ellington Center Cemetery.
