Ellington Pair Charged After EHS Student Discovered Drunk: Cops

Two Ellington residents are facing liquor charges after a student was discovered drunk.

ELLINGTON, CT ―Two Ellington residents have been charged with delivering liquor to a minor after a student at the high school was discovered drunk and distraught, state police said.

Alexis Ashby, 21, and Corbin Jones, 26, were both charged April 10 with illegally delivering liquor to a minor and permitting a minor to illegally possess liquor, according to warrants.

The 14-year-old student was discovered drunk and distraught at Ellington High School on March 12, according to warrants.

After the student was taken to the nurse's office, six empty "nipped-size" bottles of flavored Smirnoff Vodka were located in the student's backpack, according to a warrant. The student was also given counseling that day, according to a warrant.

The liquor was purchased the day before and given to the student, according to warrants.

Jones and Ashby are due in court on April 24, state police said.
