Ellington Paves Way For New HS Track
Town meeting voters unanimously approve $230,000 for new Ellington High School track.

ELLINGTON, CT — The high school's worn-out running/walking track will get a necessary refurb after town meeting voters late last month approved a $230,000 appropriation.
The cash for Ellington High School's track will come from American Rescue Plan funds, which are federal dollars earmarked to help municipalities recover some expenses dealing with the pandemic.
At a May 25 special town meeting at Ellington Town Hall, voters — 16 in all at the less-than-10-minute meeting — approved the expenditure.

As a result, the town hired Georgia-based Astroturf Corp. to install and resurface a new track at EHS, which is located at 37 Maple St.
Plans to utilize federal grant dollars for the track were first discussed in the spring of 2021, with voter approval last month representing the final financing hurdle for a renovated track.
