Ellington Resident Honored by Celtics as a 'Hero Among Us'
Ellington's Stephen Schirra was recently honored as part of the Boston Celtics program called, 'Heroes Among Us.'

ELLINGTON, CT — Ellington's Stephen Schirra was recently honored at a sold-out TD Garden as part of the Boston Celtics program called, "Heroes Among Us."
Schirra was recognized for the work with the charity he founded called "Around the Worlds, Around the World" and what it is doing to build sports programs worldwide.
Since Schirra helped start Around the Worlds in August of 2015, the organization has taught soccer to more than 3,700 children from 75 different organizations (orphanages, schools, youth shelters, etc.) in 23 different countries.

The latest project was at an orphanage in Malaysia.
Additionally, donations of cleats, goalkeeper gloves, jerseys, goal sets, and 1,208 soccer balls have indirectly impacted mote than 10,000 young people.
