Ellington resident with MS overcomes the “impossible”

Marisa Boasa named to the Hartford Marathon Foundation's 2019 Aiello Inspiration Team

(JONATHAN DENICHOLAS)

Marisa Boasa of Ellington is in the fight of her life. Just over a year after her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, she will take on the Eversource Hartford Half Marathon on October 12 despite countless doctors saying she’d never run again.

She is motivated by proving to herself and to others that anything is possible. With the help of a running coach and physical therapist, Marisa “reprogrammed” her legs to move despite her very progressive form of MS. She believes by keeping her will and staying active, she can help keep her illness at bay.

Marisa Boasa has been named to the Hartford Marathon Foundation’s 2019 Aiello Inspiration Team, a group of runners with incredible reasons for participating in the annual Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon this fall.
