Ellington, Rockville Grads Receive Connecticut Red Sox Service Scholarships
They were honored at Fenway Park.
Gillian Foley and Erin Meaney, 2016 graduates of Rockville High School and Ellington High School, respectively, each received one of 22 Connecticut Red Sox Service Scholarships presented to graduating seniors from Connecticut public high schools this year.
As a sponsor of the program, the Ford Motor Company Fund's Tom O’Leary was on the field to help present Gillian and Erin with their awards at Fenway Park prior to last Sunday’s Red Sox game against the Minnesota Twins.
It is the scholarship program’s third year in Connecticut. It was first launched in New Hampshire in 2010 and now runs in all five New England states outside of Massachusetts.The $1,000 Red Sox Service Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility, and demonstrated community service.

Gillian will attend University of Connecticut and Erin will attend the University of Scranton this Fall.
