Ellington Seeks Volunteers For America 250 Event

Organizers are seeking history-inspired demonstrations, artisan skills, vintage exhibits and children's activities for the event.

ELLINGTON, CT — An America 250 celebration is planned for Ellington, and organizers are already putting out the call for participants.

According to a flyer from the Ellington America 250 committee, the celebration is scheduled for Oct. 3, 2026, on the Ellington Green. The event is expected to feature history-inspired demonstrations and displays tied to early Americana, agriculture and community life.

Organizers are looking for participants offering traditional crafts, artisan skills and vintage exhibits. The flyer also lists blacksmithing, basket weaving, quilting, leatherwork, steam engines, antique tools, historical games and children’s activities as examples of what they hope to include.

Local groups and organizations are also being encouraged to take part. Registration opens May 1, according to the flyer.
