Ellington/Somers Election Results 2018: How Locals Voted

Local voters flocked to the polls to elect a new governor and decide local, state and national races on Tuesday.

ELLINGTON/SOMERS, CT — Voters came out to the polls in droves in Somers and Ellington on Tuesday to cast ballots in Connecticut's statewide election.

The parking lot at Ellington High School was packed all morning and the cars spilled into the back lot.

Ellington Board of Education member Michael Purcaro said he had never seen lines like he did Tuesday. At mid-morning, they stretched of the gym and into the hallway.

"It's unbelievable, but it's also good," he said. "It's great to see this much participation."

In the 35th Senate District, vacated by retiring icon Tony Guglielmo, Vernon mayor Dan Chapagne captured the seat.

Tim Larson kept the state Senate 3rd District seat.
