Ellington-Somers Obituary: Christopher Nielsen, 64

Christopher “Chris” J. Nielsen, 64, of Somers, beloved husband of Joan (Bartholomay) Nielsen for 41 years, entered into eternal peace Monday, November 16, 2015 at home.

Chris was born in Hartford and raised in South Windsor. He lived in Ellington for 15 years before moving to Somers where he lived since 1994. Chris was employed for H.P. Hood for over 27 years before retiring. He loved the outdoors, especially golfing, canoeing and fishing. He was also an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife Joan, Chris is survived by his loving children, James Nielsen of Somers, and Rebecca Nielsen of Manhattan, NY; his mother Alma (Joyner) Mooney of Windsor; a sister, Kimberly DeGray of Enfield; a nephew Jason DeGray; and his father-in-law, Francis Bartholomay of Enfield. He was predeceased by a son Paul Nielsen, and his father, John Nielsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday November 19, 2015 at the St. Joseph’s Residence Chapel, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, CT. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
