Ellington, Somers Produce Placewinners at State Open Track Meet

The State Open indoor track and field championships were contested Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Ellington High School produced four individual event placewinners and Somers High School added one at the State Open indoor track and field championships Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center.

Kylie Raymond of Somers took top honors among local competitors, placing third in the 3200 meter run.

For Ellington, Savanna Macaluso (55 meter hurdles) and Megan Knowling (high jump) each placed fourth. Sydney Schultz was fifth in the 100o meter run, while Joshua Prouty took sixth in the pole vault.

Danbury edged Hall to capture the boys team championship, while Greenwich easily outdistanced Danbury to win the girls title.
